IIM land Identified in Sambalpur

Sambalpur administration has identified two locations for the Indian Institute of Management. Collector Balwant Singh said an area near Goshala along NH-6 and another along NH-53, each measuring more than 230 acres of land, have been identified for setting up of the country’s top B school. He has sent a report on the land details to the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO).

Former MP Ballav Panigrahi in a letter to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday urged the Government to set up IIM in Sambalpur in wake of availability of land, good communication facilities and the town’s proximity to other urban centers. Maintaining that Bhubaneswar and Cuttack already have a number of prestigious national-level institutions, he wrote that Sambalpur should now be given the benefit of an IIM.

The IDCO, State Government’s nodal land acquisition agency, had asked the collectors of Sambalpur, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Ganjam to identify the land for the purpose.

On Wednesday, it also directed collectors of Sundargarh and Koraput to identify land.
